La práctica multidisciplinaria de Ian Deleón explora las formas en que los medios informativos, la cultura popular y productos de consumo, trabajan para reenforzar las narrativas coloniales que mantienen las naciones "en desarrollo" bajo diversos grados del control imperialista.

Ian Deleón received a B.F.A. from the Studio for Interrelated Media department at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 2011, where they continue to live and work.

Their daily art practice consists of rejecting the tendency to participate passively in popular culture. Rather, Ian Deleón prefers to read "against the grain", enjoying what Annette Kuhn describes as "the pleasure of resistance, of saying 'no' […] to structures of power which ask us to consume them uncritically and in highly circumscribed ways."

An ever-evolving relationship to communication technology, a less gender-defined Latin@ identity, and an awareness of Neoliberal domination strategies form the basis of Ian Deleón's larger goal of a personal, as well as worldwide, political and social awakening.

- I am also a freelance video editor/camera operator and I perform visual manipulations for various live music acts. Contact me if interested, I am always looking to take on new projects.
