Nostalgia // Economics
a collaboration with Kara Stokowski
This ongoing body of work examines popular media from the last decade of the 20th century (our childhood) through an economic and political lens in order to better understand contemporary attitudes toward money, wealth, and power. The project is primarily informed by Marshall McLuhan's ideas on the power of media, as well as the far-reaching effects of Reagan-era legislation regarding economics and conservative family values.
In April of 2012, while attending the Hammock Residency (hosted by Heidi Nagtegaal) in Vancouver, BC, our research manifested into a discussion/film screening, a publication, a blog, a therapeutic book burning, an installation, and several performances.
